Well, it was a nice day and I'd checked out the trailer and bike yesterday so I took my favourite dog to the beach again. There was a cool North breeze but the sun reflecting off the sea made it much warmer than I expected. It was a lovely walk
There was a bunch of oystercatchers waiting for the tide to go out. They let me get unusually close.
Turnstones show what wonderful camouflage they have.
The waves coming into the wind caused a lot of spray, especially when the wave hits he groyne
And a crow sitting on the groyne post. There are always crows on this beach. They harass the gulls into dropping their food so they can steal it.
And finally
The beach hut shot!

Mud
A sign of things to come. When the sun is warm and spring is in full flow these little shoots will be bluebell flowers. It is just as well that these pictures don't come with sound, we were 50 metres from a dual carriageway.
It is said that "When gorse is out of blossom, kissing's out of fashion.". It's lucky that it's in flower all year then.
Ah, mud!
This path is notoriously muddy in winter.
Before winter 2013/4 this was dense woodland. The storms made the ground very wet and then the wind blew most of the trees down. They have only recently started removing the fallen trees.
Now that is what I call mud!
These tracks are from bringing the timber out. Each tyre track is about 1 metre wide.
And this is where they stacked it.
As you can imagine, we brought quite a lot of mud home with us!

On reflection, more ice - Ice 2
Another cold day, but at least it was calm and there was a weak sun for a little warmth. We went for a proper walk today and I am pleased to say that my dog now seems to be her old self again, digging for moles, chasing cats and barking at strangers. I never thought I would be so relieved at the return of that sort of behaviour. Of course, she is a dog so it is normal for her. My recent musings have been to do with how wonderful my vet is!
Anyway, just a couple of pics today, of sun reflecting off ice.

Follow up
My dog was quite lethargic yesterday, and so was I! She wasn't eating very much - she had her dinner but unusually wouldn't take dog biscuits from me.
Today we went for our first walk since she came home. It wasn't as long as usual because I didn't want to tire her out but she is obviously feeling a lot better because she had enough energy to chase a cat at the end of the walk. The cat got away - they always do. Also she is hassling me for treats again - a good, if irritating sign.
I have 5 pills to give her everyday for at least a couple of weeks and she will have to go back to the vet to check she is OK but I am so relieved that she seems her old self again. And a big shout out for the vets and nurses for doing such a great (if expensive) job. Well done guys and girls.
