Doris day in London

No, not the blonde bombshell (weird term) from the 1950s and 60s. No a weather bomb, a storm called Doris which swept the country and disrupted the already totally unreliable Southern Railway disservice.

Today was the day I had to travel to London 😣.

Getting to London was remarkably easy, trains were running to the timetable.
However the return journey...

Victoria station

After waiting one and a half hours for a train to turn up this was the ensuing chaos as people tried to get off the train at the same time as people were trying to get on!

On the train

I had been on the train squashed into a corner for about an hour before I could take this picture because I couldn't reach the camera in my pocket. I couldn't move my feet for an hour either but people were in good spirits despite the lateness and crowding. I suspect it was because they were relieved that they were actually going to get home. It was beginning to seem unlikely when we were waiting for the train. I expect a lot of people were stranded in London overnight.

Doris certainly made her presence felt!
